The Colour Group of Great Britain in partnership with The Textile Institute, SE and London Region, will be hosting a symposium on the world’s favourite colour. An expert line up of speakers weave important and fascinating aspects of the history of blue colour chemistry, printing, art, culture and indigo. Fashion denim, design and new technology products that support quality standards which today represents a multi billion industry.
Two separate but related meetings concerning the colour BLUE, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

History of BLUE in Chemistry, Printing, Art, Technology and Culture

This session will take us through the history of the development of blue in natural, synthetics dyes and pigments, blues in printing, blue from an artist's perspective, fading characteristics, new technology tools for fading assessment for quality and conservation. The fashion of indigo through the ages.

A team of industry experts share with us different aspects of the exciting multimillion pound industry of denim from the evolution of blue denim, impact on life, culture, fashion and the environment. Fashion brand insight into designing with denim, methods of fading effects and fastness to light testing methods and standards.

There will be a networking refreshment break in both the morning and afternoon session.
Table tops design, technical samples and equipment demonstrations will be available during the intervals and there will be the opportunity to speak to our experts.
The event is open to everyone and is a great opportunity for networking with industry partners and keeping skills and knowledge up to date.
Lunch is not provided as part of the meeting but the City University has many catering outlets, including a food court, and there are many local cafes and pubs catering for all tastes and prices.
Space is limited so admission is by ticket only against a small fee.
